Job summary

Conway Elementary in Stafford County Public Schools seeks an Elementary School Counselor to support students in academic, social, and emotional growth. Based at the school, this licensed position follows the 200-day calendar and reports to the building administrator.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's in school guidance and counseling, provides guidance program services, crisis team participation, and collaborates with teachers, parents, and community partners.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in an accredited college or university with completion of an approved school guidance and counseling program.
• Two (2) years of successful full-time teaching experience or two years of successful experience in guidance and counseling.
• Completed specialized studies in elementary school counseling.

Responsibilities

• Provides counsel to students with learning, physical, social, and emotional concerns through conferences.
• Provides planned pre-vocational and career awareness programs for students.
• Consults with appropriate school personnel, community agencies, and parents regarding students' concerns.
• Maintains current information regarding community services for information and referral purposes.
• Coordinates programs and events related to the counseling program.
• Assists in smooth transitions of students between schools.
• Participates on the school crisis team and school guidance activities.
• Provides parent education opportunities.
