Job summary

Candor Elementary School in Candor, North Carolina is seeking a School Counselor to lead the school’s counseling program. The role reports to the Principal and Counseling Supervisor and may coordinate counselor aides and clerical staff.

The counselor will provide individual and group counseling, consult with families and staff, and coordinate services to support students' personal-social growth, educational planning, and career development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with a Master's degree in counseling (must have 18 hours in school counseling) or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must be licensed by the State of North Carolina Department of Public Instruction in counseling or able to obtain licensure in this area.

Responsibilities

• Establishes the school-counseling program and develops activities and resources to implement and evaluate the program.
• Provides individual and group counseling services to meet developmental, preventive, and remedial needs of students.
• Consults with students, parents, teachers, and other school personnel to assist in meeting student needs.
• Coordinates all counseling services for students and assists with the coordination and implementation of student services in the school.
• Interprets test results and assists with educational placement using appropriate assessment strategies.
• Adheres to ethical standards and participates in professional development to upgrade knowledge and skills.
• Attends professional development trainings to be proficient in the Learning Management System for Online Program.
