The Upper Darby School District is seeking applicants certified as a School Counselor for a full-time elementary vacancy.

Qualifications

PA Instructional Certificate – Elementary and Secondary School Counselor (PK-12)
Out-of-state educators and anyone seeking an emergency certificate should review the guidelines set by the PA Department of Education. Pennsylvania Certification information is available at: https://www.education.pa.gov/Educators/Certification/Pages/default.aspx
BA and Master’s degree required in appropriate major study
Knowledge of content in certification area
Classroom/group management skills

Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff and parents.

Job Goal

To participate, as a member of the instructional staff, in directing the learning of elementary students. Such participation shall be directed toward attainment of general and specific objectives of the curricula of the school, and of the school district.

Major Function

To provide individual and group counseling to assure that students will gain the optimum from the educational program
To help implement group testing program (K-5)
To support students, staff and parents of students so that each student can meet their educational goals.
To support students in course selections and to roster students following Upper Darby guidelines.
To provide an environment to facilitate personal and social growth
To initiate and implement a career educational program
To serve as a liaison between the home and school, teacher and pupil, school and community
To provide an effective system of referrals to other specialists within the school system
To serve as a Student Assistance Team member
