Job summary

Porter Township School Corporation seeks an Elementary School Assistant Principal to help manage school programs and services. The role reports to the Principal and focuses on student services, attendance, discipline, and leadership within the school management team.

Ideal candidates will have valid licensure and strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills to support diverse learning needs and ensure a positive educational environment.

Qualifications

• Valid state department of education license/certificate appropriate for the position.
• Successful elementary teaching and/or administrative experience preferred, but not required.
• Indiana Certified School Safety Specialist Certification desired, but not required.
• A record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
• Complies with drug-free workplace rules and board policies.
• Keeps current with technology and other workplace innovations that support job functions.
• Ability to multitask and effectively problem solve.
• Ability to communicate successfully both written and verbal.
• Effective organizational, planning, and project management skills.
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement program options, auxiliary services, and curricular materials that support the diverse learning needs of students.

Responsibilities

• Manage assigned student service programs.
• Administer attendance guidelines and consequences.
• Administer and implement the student discipline program.
• Participates as an active member of the management team.
• Consults with staff and families to address student concerns.
• Address truancy issues by providing direct interventions at school sites, communities, and homes of students at risk.
• Provide peer mediation and conflict resolution for students, staff, and parents.
• Create and implement behavior interventions with a focus on rehabilitating student behavior.
• Advise administrators and teachers on issues regarding at-risk students.
