Job summary

Royal Valley Unified School District 337 is seeking a Title 1 Elementary Reading Paraprofessional for the 2025-2026 school year to support student learning under the supervision of the classroom teacher.

The position requires assisting with small groups, transitions, and implementing instructional activities; confidentiality and positive attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Has the required number of college hours or has passed the test required for paraprofessionals.
• Demonstrates ability to work with students and adult personnel.
• Able to follow work schedules and work independently without direct supervision.
• Demonstrates sound judgment.
• Maintains confidentiality of all student and school related information.
• Exhibits a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assists with transitions and routines throughout the day such as lining up, setting up activities, center time and cleanup.
• Models appropriate behaviors for the children such as quiet voice while inside and respectfully handling inappropriate behaviors by following classroom policies.
• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Demonstrates good work habits such as having good attendance and being prompt on time.
• Takes suggestions from team members and other support staff in a mature manner.
• Assists the teacher in administering, scoring and recording assessments as the teacher recommends for individual students.
• Performs other duties as requested by the teacher or administrator.

Classroom Teacher(s) and Building Principal

JOB GOAL:

To assist the teacher in achieving teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve skill levels to their fullest potential.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists with transitions and other routines throughout the day such as lining up, setting up activities, center time and cleanup.
• Models appropriate behaviors for the children such as quiet voice while inside and respectfully handling inappropriate behaviors by following classroom policies.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Royal Valley school year calendar. Works only on days that school is in session.

EVALUATION:

This position will be evaluated once during the first 60 days of employment. After that this position will be evaluated on an annual basis per district practice.
