Job summary

Iowa City Community School District is seeking an Elementary Supervisory Paraeducator at Norman Borlaug Elementary in Iowa City, IA. The role runs 3 hours per day, Monday through Friday, from 10:30 to 1:30, supporting students with academic, social, and behavioral needs under school staff supervision.

Responsibilities include supervising recess and lunch, assisting with health concerns and attendance, and helping prepare instructional materials.

Qualifications

• AA or BA degree, or Para certification required
• Experience with children preferred but not required
• Post-secondary coursework in educational field preferred but not required
• Initiative to be a self-starter and flexible in assignments

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during recess and ensure safety.
• Supervise lunch period and assist with seating and dismissal.
• Assist with basic health concerns and medicine distribution.
• Assist with lunch counts and orders for meals.
• Maintain attendance records and contact families as needed.
• Support classroom teachers with instructional materials.
