Job description

Position: Elementary Music Teacher

Work Schedule: 8 hours/day, 194 duty days

Start Date: Fall 2025

Pay and Benefits: Pay and benefits are in accordance with the teacher labor agreement - https://www.isd622.org/about/human-resources

Required Qualifications
  1. Valid MN teaching license in elementary music education for grades K-5.
  2. Demonstrated ongoing professional development through coursework, research, and peer collaboration.
  3. Strong knowledge of the core curriculum areas the teacher is responsible for instructing.
  4. Knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods, current research-based best practices, and strategies.
  5. Understanding of students’ learning styles and needs, both academic and emotional.
  6. Knowledge of multicultural, gender, and disability fair curriculum concepts.
  7. Classroom management techniques and skills.
  8. Proficiency with instructional technologies.
  9. Effective classroom presentation skills.
  10. Organizational skills and classroom management.
  11. Record-keeping and report development skills.
  12. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  13. Ability to plan and implement lessons aligned with district and school goals, considering student needs and abilities.
  14. Ability to provide appropriate instruction in core subjects.
  15. Adaptability of teaching styles to diverse student populations.
  16. Effective interaction with students, parents, staff, administration, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
  17. Ability to evaluate student performance and communicate evaluations to foster achievement.
  18. Ability to work cooperatively in a learning environment.
  19. Competence in utilizing computer and multimedia technology.
Responsibilities
  1. Provide instruction in core curriculum areas using appropriate resources and technologies.
  2. Implement district and school goals and objectives.
  3. Follow prescribed curriculum unless authorized otherwise.
  4. Evaluate student performance, promote achievement, maintain records, and report as required.
  5. Maintain communication with parents and collaborate on student development.
  6. Manage classroom behavior and enforce district rules and disciplinary actions.
  7. Ensure health and hygienic standards are met in the classroom to support student well-being.
