Performance Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum Implementation:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging music lessons aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Visual and Performing Arts.
- Introduce foundational music concepts, including rhythm, melody, pitch, movement, notation, and music appreciation across diverse genres and cultures.
- Integrate instructional technology and interactive tools to enhance learning outcomes.

Classroom & Performance Management:
- Establish and maintain a structured, safe, and encouraging classroom environment conducive to active artistic learning.
- Organize, rehearse, and direct school-wide music programs, choir ensembles, and seasonal student performances throughout the academic year.
- Oversee the proper use, inventory, and maintenance of musical instruments, sound equipment, and classroom materials.

Assessment & Student Support:
- Assess student progress using formative and summative evaluation methods to guide instruction.
- Adapt teaching methods and materials to accommodate varying learning styles, abilities, and multicultural perspectives.

Professional Collaboration & Communication:
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, colleagues, and administration regarding student growth and event schedules.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, PLC (Professional Learning Community) sessions, and school committee activities.
- Attend required school events and programs outside regular instructional hours.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from an accredited institution.
- Valid North Carolina Professional Educator's License in Music (K–12) (or eligibility for NC lateral entry/residency licensure).
