Job Description:

ML Teachers are responsible for supporting the development and implementation of effective systems, routines, and instructional practices that create a developmentally appropriate and academically rigorous program for multilingual learners. ML Teachers work collaboratively with General Education teachers, Interventionists, Special Education co-teachers, other ML teachers, and school leadership to ensure students receive appropriate language development and academic support.

The ML Teacher will provide a variety of direct and collaborative services, which may include Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP), English Language Development (ELD), content-based instruction, structured English instruction, co-teaching, small-group instruction, push-in/pull-out support, and other approved service models based on student, grade-level, and school needs.

  • Develop positive relationships with students and create a calm, inclusive, culturally responsive, and student-centered learning environment that promotes academic achievement, language development, confidence, and independence.
  • Advocate for multilingual learners by collaborating with staff and families to identify and reduce linguistic, cultural, and academic barriers that may limit students' access to educational opportunities.
  • Collaborate as a member of the ML and schoolwide instructional team, contributing to problem-solving, data analysis, professional learning, program development, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to changing student and program needs. ML Teachers are expected to remain open to adjustments in schedules, student groupings, instructional assignments, service models, and program plans as needs arise throughout the school year.
