Job description

Starting Date: Aug 5, 2026

Primary Purpose

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth (elementary campus houses students in grades 3 -5). Teach the District curriculum and actively participate in the curriculum alignment/development process. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications
  • Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
  • Teaching Certificate: Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned or approved alternative certification.
  • ESL Cert preferred.
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
  • Knowledge of subjects assigned.
  • Ability to research and develop teaching units.
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience

Student teaching or approved internship in a primary setting.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies / Curriculum Expectations
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and provide written evidence of preparation.
  • Align resources and teaching to the district curriculum.
  • Actively participate in the district curriculum development process.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by federal regulations, the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Incorporate research-based instructional strategies in teaching.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of diverse student needs.
  • Ensure equal access to curriculum and equitable delivery for each student.
  • Work cooperatively with other teachers to modify curricula for students with special needs (Special Education, 504, Bilingual).
  • Work with other staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s), volunteer(s), and student teachers.
  • Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
Student Growth and Development
  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing and analyze data to differentiate instruction.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and approved by the campus principal.
  • Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
Classroom / Laboratory Management and Organization
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the District Discipline Management Plan, Code of Conduct, and campus student handbook.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
Communication
  • Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, teachers, and support staff.
  • Encourage parents to support student learning.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
Professional Growth and Development
  • Seek and actively participate in appropriate, ongoing professional development.
Other
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervise teacher aide(s), volunteer(s), and student teacher(s) as assigned.
