Job summary

The Arlington Public Schools seek an instrumental (Strings) teacher to provide group instruction in grades 3–5 during the AM school day, covering violin, viola, cello and bass.

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching elementary children, expertise on their instruments, and a strong pedagogy for large-group settings, with a cheerfully supportive, student-centered classroom.

Bachelor’s degree in applied music or music education is required, and MA DESE licensure is preferred.

Job description

The Arlington Public Schools is seeking an instrumental (Strings) teacher who has experience working with elementary age-children to provide group instrumental music instruction to students in grades 3-5 during the regular school day (AM) in the following areas: violin, viola, cello and bass.

Requirements

Experience teaching elementary-age children is required.

The successful candidates will demonstrate expertise on their instruments and a strong background in and knowledge of materials, methods, and the pedagogy associated with their instruments. Experience teaching elementary students in a large group setting is essential. Successful candidates will exhibit dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and engage elementary-age children, and maintain and enhance enthusiastic participation in music making in a safe, supportive, and student-centered environment.

Bachelor’s degree in applied music or music education is required.

MA DESE licensure is preferred.
