Limestone County Board of Education seeks an Elementary School Counselor to provide high-quality counseling and guidance for elementary students, collaborating with teachers, parents, and administrators to support academic achievement and school success.

You will conduct counseling activities, assist with transitions to middle school, and use technology to plan instruction and manage data and reports. This exempt, 202-day position emphasizes ethics, leadership, and program evaluation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or its equivalent in educational guidance, child growth and development theory, testing and measurement, counseling, and guidance administration.
• Valid Alabama teaching certificate in school counseling.
• Minimum of three years successful teaching experience.
• Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills with emphasis on communication and collaboration.
• Ability to manage budgets and develop curriculum and programming for elementary students.
• Ability to use technology to communicate, plan instruction, facilitate learning, and manage data/reports.

Responsibilities

• Conducts classroom counseling and guidance activities in collaboration with teaching staff for each grade level.
• Collaborates with staff to infuse counseling content into the curriculum.
• Assists students with transitions to middle school and conducts orientation for new students and parents.
• Uses technology to plan instruction and facilitate student learning; models tech use for staff.
• Interprets test results to faculty/admin for instruction improvements.
• Coordinates school system assessment program with the principal.
• Plans staff development and facilitates conferences with teachers, parents, and students.
• Maintains confidentiality and reports issues promptly.
