Job summary

ReNEW Schools in Indianapolis is seeking an Elementary English Teacher to deliver standards-based ELA instruction for elementary students, developing reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension.

The teacher will create a positive, structured classroom culture, use student data to tailor instruction, differentiate support, and prepare students for IREAD-3 and ILEARN, while collaborating with colleagues. Strong communication with families completes the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, English/Language Arts, or a related field.
• Indiana teaching license or eligibility for Indiana licensure preferred.
• Experience using student data to guide instruction; IREAD/ILEARN prep preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based English Language Arts lessons for elementary students.
• Develop students’ reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, phonics, grammar, writing, and communication skills.
• Prepare students to demonstrate proficiency on IREAD-3 and ILEARN assessments through standards-aligned instruction, purposeful practice, and ongoing assessment.
• Use student data, formative assessments, and classroom observations to identify learning needs and adjust instruction.
• Provide differentiated instruction and appropriate interventions to support students at different levels of achievement.
• Collaborate with teachers, intervention staff, and school leadership to support student achievement.
• Establish and maintain a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, responsibility, effort, and a love of learning.

Position Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary English Teacher to join our team. The teacher will provide engaging, standards-based English Language Arts instruction that develops students’ reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and communication skills.

The teacher will create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment while helping students develop the academic skills, confidence, and habits needed to succeed in school and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based English Language Arts lessons for elementary students.
• Develop students’ reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, phonics, grammar, writing, and communication skills.
• Prepare students to demonstrate proficiency on IREAD-3 and ILEARN assessments through standards-aligned instruction, purposeful practice, and ongoing assessment.
• Use student data, formative assessments, and classroom observations to identify learning needs and adjust instruction.
• Provide differentiated instruction and appropriate interventions to support students at different levels of achievement.
• Teach students how to read closely, identify key ideas and details, determine word meaning, make inferences, and use evidence from texts.
• Develop students’ written responses through explicit instruction in organization, grammar, vocabulary, and use of textual evidence.
• Incorporate high-quality literature, informational texts, and authentic reading materials.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of academic performance.
• Provide timely feedback and communicate student progress with families.
• Collaborate with teachers, intervention staff, and school leadership to support student achievement.
• Establish and maintain a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, responsibility, effort, and a love of learning.
• Participate in professional development, team meetings, curriculum planning, and school activities.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and engaging learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, English/Language Arts, or a related field.
• Indiana teaching license or eligibility for Indiana licensure preferred.
• Strong knowledge of elementary literacy and reading instruction.
• Experience using student data to guide instruction preferred.
• Experience preparing students for IREAD and/or ILEARN assessments preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners.
