Job summary

Oklahoma City Public Schools is seeking an Elementary Education Teacher to create a flexible program and classroom environment that supports learning and personal growth, building rapport with pupils and engaging parents and staff.

The teacher will plan lessons aligned with state standards, provide individualized instruction, manage behavior, communicate progress to families, and participate in school improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in education or related field.
• Oklahoma Teaching Certification in Elementary Education or approved Alternative Certification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music following state and district standards.
• Instructs citizenship and core subjects as required by law and district procedures.
• Develops lesson plans and provides individualized and small group instruction to meet pupil needs.
• Translates lesson plans into engaging learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
• Maintains pupil behavior standards to create a positive learning environment.
• Evaluates pupils’ progress and communicates with parents about performance and progress.
• Participates in district school improvement efforts and ongoing professional development.
