The University of Wisconsin–Madison is seeking qualified Adjunct Instructors to serve as Elementary Education Field Supervisors. This part-time, fixed-term role connects PK-12 schools with the UW program, coaching student teachers and cooperating teachers to create strong field experiences.

Terminal (Fixed Term)
Adjunct Instructor
The Elementary Education Field Supervisor plays a vital role as a link between PK-12 schools and the UW, fostering clear communication among cooperating teachers, student teachers, and various school administrations. Supervisors offer support and coaching to both student teachers and cooperating teachers to establish a productive teaching and learning environment for pre-service teachers' field experiences.
Primary job tasks include observing, guiding, and reviewing student teachers' progress, with a strong emphasis on their engagement with learners, thoughtful planning, effective teaching strategies, varied assessment methods, and professionalism. Supervisors facilitate reflective thinking, provide constructive feedback, and collaborate on tailored growth plans when needed.
Serving as mentors, field supervisors ensure alignment with Elementary Education program guidelines in field experiences. In addition to work observing and mentoring pre-service teachers in K-12 school settings, Elementary Education Supervisors attend weekly meetings with the cohort leader and fellow supervisors, co-facilitate weekly cohort seminars, and attend monthly supervisor professional development.
We are hiring to expand our pool of field supervisors. This is a part-time role and supervisor appointments will vary by semester based on program needs, without a guaranteed appointment each semester. Elementary Education has a greater need for supervisors each Spring. When possible, supervisors will continue with a cohort lead and group of pre-service teachers for a full 3-semester clinical sequence to maintain continuity within the program.
Most appointments are 25-50% of full-time (10 - 20 hours per week) and follow the University's academic calendar. Supervision primarily occurs during school hours, though occasional meetings or professional development may take place outside of these hours.
School of Education / Curriculum and Instruction
Minimum: Negotiable
Field Supervisors are paid via Period Activity Pay during the semesters in which they work, commensurate with experience and education.
