Hamilton City School District Highland Elementary School in Hamilton, Ohio seeks an Education Unit Assistant to support teachers and students throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Requires 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours or an associate degree
• Must meet district hiring requirements
• High school diploma or GED
• Ohio ParaPro or ESEA Endorsement required
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing

Responsibilities

• Ensure the safety of students as directed by the principal
• Supervise and/or work with students individually or in small groups
• Assist in preparing and duplicating classroom material
• Liaise with District, community, staff, students and parents with tact
• Assist students with classwork and make-up work
• Maintain student and miscellaneous records
• Assist in the development of life skills and social behaviours
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and free/reduced lunch forms
• Notify appropriate person in emergencies
• Protect students, equipment, and facilities
• Communicate with parents and administrators
• Distribute communiqués to be sent home with students
• Attend educational field trips
• Assist with recess and lunch supervision
• Escort students throughout the building
• Attend professional growth seminars and trainings
• Assist with toiletry needs as necessary
• Attend meetings and in-services
• Assist teacher with clerical duties
• Administer basic first aid to students
• Interact positively with staff, students, parents and community
• Perform other duties related to education and supervision of handicapped students
• Stay current with Board guidelines and policies
• Follow District safety and regulatory compliance policies
• Be punctual and prepared for duties
• Utilize time effectively and maintain good attendance
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervising teacher or principal
• Maintain and improve professional competence through professional growth seminars
