Hamilton Community Schools invites qualified educators to apply for the District Floating Substitute Teacher position for the 2026-2027 school year. Home-base varies, with daily vacancies across the district based on need.

Position reports to Building Principal; FLSA status is Nonexempt. Pay rate is $150 per day through EDUStaff, with guaranteed daily work and Monday–Friday schedules when students are in session.

Qualifications

• Successful experience as a substitute teacher.
• Ability to meet certification requirements as a substitute through MDE.
• Ability to communicate well at various levels with students, parents, and school personnel.
• Evidence of a positive attitude and human relation skills.
• Evidence of high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in personal and professional matters.
• High level of flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Follow the lesson plans of the regular classroom teacher
• Establish effective, positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, other support staff, and administrators
• Apply sound principles of learning and motivation in the planning, implementation and assessment phases of instructional delivery
• Utilize a variety of quality classroom management techniques to maintain a highly productive learning environment
• Review special needs of students and emergency procedures
• Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school/classroom to which he/she is assigned
• Follows all policies, rules, and procedures of the school/classroom
• Maintains confidentiality of all school-related matters
• All other duties as assigned.
