Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High school diploma or GED; Valid Texas educational aide certificate; Must pass MISD paraprofessional test; 48 college hours/associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration of objective testing instruments or assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Conduct instructional exercises with individual scholars or small groups.
• Supervise scholars during the school day (lunchroom, bus, playground).
• Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual scholars.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or administrator.
