Job summary

Columbus Preparatory Academy is seeking an enthusiastic Elementary Art Teacher to inspire creativity in students in Kindergarten through 5th grade for the 2026-2027 school year.

The role requires planning and delivering engaging visual arts instruction aligned with Ohio Learning Standards, developing artistic techniques, and differentiating lessons to meet diverse learners while fostering creativity and high expectations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education or a related field.
  • Valid Ohio teaching license appropriate for the assignment.
  • Ability to teach students in grades K-5.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging visual arts instruction aligned with Ohio Learning Standards for Visual Arts.
  • Create lessons that develop artistic techniques, creativity, problem-solving, and appreciation for various art forms and cultures.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Integrate cross-curricular connections when appropriate to reinforce classroom learning.
  • Foster creativity while maintaining high academic and behavioral expectations.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and organized art classroom that encourages creativity and responsible use of materials.
  • Establish routines and procedures that promote student independence and respect.
  • Maintain classroom supplies, equipment, and inventory.
  • Demonstrate and enforce proper safety procedures when using art materials and tools.
  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide timely, meaningful feedback that encourages artistic growth and confidence.
  • Celebrate student achievement through classroom displays, school exhibits, and community showcases when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, intervention staff, and administrators to support student success.
  • Participate in professional learning communities, staff meetings, and professional development.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with families regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Support school-wide events, family engagement opportunities, and special programs as requested.

Position Summary

Columbus Preparatory Academy (CPA) is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and student-centered Elementary Art Teacher to inspire a love of art and creativity in students in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade. The Elementary Art Teacher will provide engaging, standards-based visual arts instruction that encourages creativity, critical thinking, self-expression, and appreciation of the arts while supporting CPA's mission of academic excellence and character development.

Requirements
Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Art Education or a related field.
  • Valid Ohio teaching license appropriate for the assignment.
  • Ability to teach students in grades K-5.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Preferred

  • Previous elementary art teaching experience.
  • Experience integrating technology into art instruction.
  • Knowledge of diverse artistic techniques and media.
  • Experience organizing student art exhibitions or school-wide art events.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and transport classroom materials and supplies up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate art techniques and assist students with projects requiring fine motor skills.
Work Schedule
  • Full-time, exempt position.
  • 2026-2027 school year.
  • School calendar and work schedule established by Columbus Preparatory Academy.
