The substitute will implement varied instructional strategies, manage the classroom, collaborate with staff, support inclusion, communicate with families, maintain records, and participate in professional growth and school activities.

Responsibilities

• Employ varied instructional methods aligned to NYS standards to meet diverse student needs.
• Develop and apply effective classroom management for a child-centered, safe learning environment.
• Collaborate with staff to plan and implement congruent goals, objectives, methods and activities.
• Collaborate with special education staff to include students with disabilities in general education as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain open communication with students and parents about academic and behavioral progress.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policies.
• Uphold the District School Code of Conduct and policies.
• Support a positive school climate and school-wide activities, including extra-curriculars as assigned.
• Pursue professional growth through reading, workshops, and district PD.
• Build cooperative, positive relationships with colleagues and others.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request.
