Job summary

Menk USA LLC is hiring an Element Line Operator in Sterling, IL. You will operate the element line, load coils with an overhead crane, and ensure safe, quality production during a 10-hour shift.

Starting wage is $21.42/hour with shift differential after training; training is on first shift. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.

Qualifications

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 2:30 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. (Training will be completed on 1st Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)

Wage: Starting at $21.42/hour + applicable shift differential upon completion of training

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Input production order information, tolerances, and material lengths into operator control panels.
  • Operate the element line safely in both manual and automatic operating modes.
  • Safely operate an overhead crane to load steel coils.
  • Mount steel coils onto the uncoiler in the correct position.
  • Feed steel through the roll former and press during setup and production.
  • Perform quick pallet changes and coil changes to minimize downtime.
  • Change gas cylinders as required.
  • Sequence production orders according to the manufacturing schedule and available components.
  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot equipment issues as they occur.
  • Perform routine machine adjustments and basic preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area in accordance with safety and 5S standards.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support operational needs.
Quality Related Responsibilities:
  • Perform work in accordance with MENK USA LLC ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Follow established quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation requirements.
  • Inspect products throughout the manufacturing process to ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Identify and report quality concerns or nonconforming conditions.
Skills:
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machine alarms and production issues.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate overhead cranes.
  • Basic computer skills for machine operation and data entry.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work productively throughout a 10-hour shift.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience operating automated manufacturing equipment, roll forming equipment, or similar production machinery preferred.
  • Overhead crane experience preferred.
Education and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Vocational training, technical education, or apprenticeship experience preferred.
  • Must successfully pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Additional Role Criteria:

Employees must meet minimum competency requirements as defined in the company training matrix. Required training must be completed and maintained. Competencies will be evaluated through the performance appraisal process. Employees must be in good standing and actively employed at the time of transfer consideration.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds when required.
  • Ability to safely operate overhead lifting equipment.
  • Ability to work around moving machinery in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to work productively during a 10-hour shift.
