Job summary

Penn United Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Chemistry Lab Manager to lead the electroplating chemistry lab, drive quality, and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will oversee testing, maintenance, and process control, while guiding a team and coordinating with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production to support manufacturing and new product development. The role emphasizes personnel leadership, safety, and continuous improvement, with responsibilities for equipment upkeep, material

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science is required.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience managing laboratory operations, electroplating chemistries or related manufacturing processes.
• Experience leading technical teams and driving continuous improvement.
• Advanced degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electroplating chemistry testing, maintenance, and process control to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Ensure plating baths stay within specification and troubleshoot chemistry-related production issues.
• Lead environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance activities including permitting and hazardous waste management.
• Maintain precious metal accountability and reclaim process.
• Maintain SDS, regulatory documentation, manifests, and compliance records.
• Coordinate chemistry purchasing, inventory management and supplier relationships.
• Develop and implement laboratory procedures.
• Research new plating chemistries, analytical methods, and manufacturing technologies to improve quality and reduce cost.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Production to support manufacturing and new product development.
• Lead and manage schedules and activities of chemistry lab team; ensure resources are utilized efficiently.
• Select, train and motivate personnel; set goals and provide performance evaluations and feedback.
• Provide guidance and support to lab team and ensure safety and quality protocols.
