Job summary

Virginia Panel Corporation in Waynesboro, VA is seeking an Electroplater B for a full-time manual plating position. You will operate automated plating lines, set up barrels, racks and fixtures, and follow ISO process documentation.

You will monitor baths, maintain temperatures and pH, adjust chemistries to spec, and inspect parts using blueprints and QA tools such as X-ray fluorescence. Teamwork and strict PPE use are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1–3 years in manufacturing.
• Experience with metal finishing or automated plating lines preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret process documentation and blueprints.
• Commitment to safety and PPE use in a lab environment.

Responsibilities

• Locate plating and VPC process documentation in ISO database.
• Set up automated plating equipment and related items (barrels, racks, fixtures) to run parts on gold, nickel lines.
• Use documentation for amperage and time settings to regulate plating processes.
• Monitor baths for temperature and pH; perform nickel plating and anodize analysis as needed.
• Adjust baths to conform to specifications.
• Read blueprints/ drawings to verify tolerances with inspection tools (e.g., X-ray fluorescence unit).
• Understand flow pattern and operate waste treatment system safely.
• Demonstrate QA principles and report quality issues to supervision.
• Work as a team player and assist others on plating lines.
• Wear PPE and work safely around chemicals as required.

Electroplating

• Understand and locate plating and VPC process documentation in the ISO database
• Set up automated plating equipment and associated items such as plating barrels, racks and fixtures to run parts on gold, anodize or electrolysis nickel lines
• Use GS documents for amperage and time settings to regulate gold/nickel plating
• Check process baths for temperature and can check pH; also run electrolysis nickel and anodize analysis if necessary.
• Adjust process baths to conform to specification
• Read blueprints, sketches and drawings to verify conformance of finished work piece to designated tolerance specifications using appropriate inspection tools such as x-ray fluorescence unit
• Understand flow pattern and how to start/shut down VPC waste treatment system as well as operate.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and problem solve
• Operate and comprehend the functioning and running capabilities of gold barrel line, select plater, anodize, and nickel plate lines
• Demonstrate sound QA principles as applied to plating line operations. Inform and keep supervision informed of any quality issues pertaining to line and process equipment operation
• Willingness to be a team player and the desire to assist others on the various plating line operations
• Willingness to work around chemicals and use PPE to perform plating job functions as required

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1-3 year minimum manufacturing experience. Experience with metal finishing and/or automated lines preferred.
