Job summary

Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, FL seeks an Electrophysiology RN to support the Cath Lab team. You will perform within the RN scope, prepare and monitor patients, document procedures, and help ensure safe, high-quality care during electrophysiology interventions.

The role requires an RN license, BLS, ACLS, and a commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and hospital policies. Full-time schedule; 40 hours/week.

Qualifications

  • Must possess upon hire and maintain current and valid State of Florida license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • BLS certification required.
  • ACLS certification required or obtained within 3 months of hire.
  • RCIS or RCES licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs within the scope of the RN license.
  • Adheres to quality and safety standards per CMS, Joint Commission and other regulations.
  • Follows isolation guidelines, uses PPE, and prepares patient using aseptic technique.
  • Verifies orders and communicates with physician; proficient in electrophysiology procedures.
  • Performs non-ablation electrophysiology interventional procedures and manages clinical emergencies.

General Description

The Electrophysiology (EP) RN reports to the Manager of Cardiovascular Services or their designee and performs within the scope of an RN license. The EP RN utilizes a wide range of technical skills during electrophysiology procedures to provide an efficient, comfortable, and safe examination of all patients. The EP RN is proficient in all aspects of electrophysiology preparation, assessment, documentation, and monitoring consistent with the policies, procedures, and processes of the Cardiovascular Services department and hospital administration. Adheres to the guidelines and standards of professional practice associations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs within the scope of the RN license.
  • Always achieves national best/leading practice standards for continuous quality improvement and patient safety as measured by CMS, Joint Commission, and other regulatory agencies pertinent to areas of responsibility (e.g., Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals), holding self and others accountable for actions and outcomes. Annually meets all required department specific competencies.
  • Always adheres to all Parrish Healthcare policies and procedures as well as regulations and codes established by federal, state, and local government affecting professional practice and industry regulations. Actively participates in necessary certification, accreditation and audit procedures and ensures that required reports/documentation are accurately prepared and submitted within established timeframes.
  • Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs hand hygiene according to accepted standards of care. Identifies and prepares patient using aseptic technique as dictated by procedure ordered. Exhibits awareness of hazards which may endanger patients.
  • Verifies orders and facilitates implementation, communicating with physician as needed. Proficiently performs non-ablation electrophysiology interventional procedures. Performs treatments and administers medications according to policy and training. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and medications. Performs within the bounds of the applicable scope of practice for Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist. Facilitates timely patient throughput.
  • Performs similar or related duties as assigned.
  • Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area.
Requirements
Formal Education
  • ASN required.
Required Licenses and Certifications
  • Must possess upon hire and maintain current and valid State of Florida license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Current BLS through the American Heart Association required.
  • Current ACLS through the American Heart Association or obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Also licensed as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) preferred.
