Job summary

BWX Technologies, Inc. in Lynchburg, VA is seeking an Electronics Technologist to identify and manage asset reliability risks in welding equipment, defining maintenance plans for plant systems and sub-systems.

You will perform preventive maintenance, develop solutions to minimize failures, oversee vendor maintenance, and generate SAP metrics to improve uptime, while collaborating with engineers and Craftsmen. U.S.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology with 12+ years in machining or a manufacturing field, or 15+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience with maintenance and operations of automated welding equipment.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays and shifts as required.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain DOE security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform value-added preventive maintenance tasks using proactive and predictive technologies.
  • Develop solutions to minimize repetitive equipment failures.
  • Oversee vendor maintenance on equipment and systems.
  • Review SAP maintenance metrics/reports to enhance uptime.

Position Overview:

The Electronics Technologist is responsible for identifying and managing asset reliability risks that could adversely affect welding equipment and systems. You will be responsible for defining, designing, developing, monitoring, and refining asset maintenance plans for plant welding systems and sub systems.

Location: On-site in Lynchburg, Virginia
Your Day to Day as an Electronics Technologist:
  • Perform value added preventive maintenance tasks and effective utilization of proactive and predictive technologies.
  • Develop engineering solutions to minimize repetitive equipment failures.
  • Responsible for oversight of vendor maintenance on equipment and systems.
  • Responsible for creating and reviewing SAP maintenance metrics/reports to enhance equipment uptime.
  • Update/generate procedures, forms, and review/generate change documents.
  • Provide technical support to Electrical and Electronics Craftsmen.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of an associate’s degree in a technical field/Electrical Technology plus twelve (12) years of practical experience in machining or a similar manufacturing field OR a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in machining or a similar manufacturing field is required.
  • Must have extensive experience with the maintenance and operations of automated welding equipment.
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must be familiarwith PLC and automated computer controls.
  • Must have SAP Plant Maintenance experience.
  • Must be able to support equipment outages/shutdown and must be able to work weekends, holidays, off shifts, and call-in's when required.
  • Must be capable of working in a team environment with Engineering, Maintenance Craftsmen, FLMs and Vendors.
  • Must be capable of providing technical support to Industrial Engineering Craftsmen and assist in defining appropriate corrective actions in a lead role.
  • Must have working knowledge of National Electric Codes, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and OSHA.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.

Pay: $86,450.00- $136,000.00

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $86,450.00 and $136,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,’ unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
