Job Title Electronics Technician Security Senior - Milwaukee Youth Facility

The Department of Corrections, Division of Juvenile Corrections, is focused on public safety through the custody and supervision of youth placed in our care. The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill an Electronics Tech Security Senior position, located at the Milwaukee Youth Facility in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor, the Electronics Technician-Security - Senior will maintain, repair, and calibrate most advanced and complex electronic systems and equipment; plan, design, and install new electronic security systems, modifications, and expansions of present systems; assist other maintenance staff; direct and assign work to youth; and provide maintenance records for all DJC facilities.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 06-63 with a starting pay between $50,211 and $92643, plus excellent benefits. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

This position is not eligible for remote work. This position has physical requirements, including but not limited to standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, and pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying up to 75lbs. This position will work within a wide range of temperatures, in dusty, dirty or confined areas or areas that are noisy. This position will also work within close physical proximity to youth and other staff.

Must have the ability to work up to 16 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on operational needs, which may include weekends and holidays.

This position requires a valid driver's license, the ability to meet State fleet requirements, and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, material and techniques of the most advanced and complex electronic security hardware installation and repair; computer and security related electronic systems; function and use of test equipment such as test sources, test meters and oscilloscopes. Ability to install, troubleshoot and repair systems containing tubes, semi-conductors and integrated circuits and a wide variety of specialized electronic equipment and computers; interpret drawings, specifications and schematics of complete systems; work effectively with contractors, consultants, engineers and staff.
