Job summary

SKT, Inc. is seeking an Electronics Technician Maintenance III to perform advanced depot-level troubleshooting, testing, alignment, modification, overhaul, and component-level repair of complex analog and digital electronic systems.

Job description

The Electronics Technician Maintenance III performs advanced depot-level troubleshooting, testing, alignment, modification, overhaul, and component-level repair of complex analog and digital electronic systems, assemblies, subassemblies, circuit cards, power supplies, and associated test equipment.

The position independently analyzes complex or unusual failures using Government-furnished software, schematics, drawings, procedures, specifications, automated test stations, manual test stations, and bench-top diagnostic equipment. Responsibilities include repairing and rebuilding electronic components, programming or maintaining automated test equipment, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and supporting equipment calibration control.

As a senior technical contributor, the Electronics Technician Maintenance III collaborates with engineers and other qualified personnel on troubleshooting, repair-process improvement, equipment modification, prototyping, and production support. The position may provide technical guidance to less-experienced technicians but does not have formal supervisory authority unless separately designated.

A sample of the work this position will perform includes:

  • Testing, aligning and troubleshooting Complex Electronics Testing and Troubleshooting
  • Performing depot repairs and rebuild activities on Electronic Components
  • Maintaining and inspecting Test-Sets (Preventive and Corrective Maintenance)
  • Calibration and Equipment-Control Support
  • Ensuring Quality, Safety, and Team Coordination
Education
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Electronics technical school, military electronics training, apprenticeship, associate degree, or comparable formal training strongly preferred.
Experience

Required:

  • Electronics process, soldering, ESD, equipment, and safety qualifications must be obtained and maintained.
  • Lockout/tagout training is required when assigned to hazardous-energy-control activities.

Preferred:

  • Minimum of seven years of experience using electronics test equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex analog and digital systems to the component level.
  • Experience with circuit-card assemblies, electronic systems, power supplies, cables, test adapters, and automated test stations.
  • Experience programming, operating, or maintaining automated test equipment.
  • Experience interpreting complex schematics, drawings, specifications, and test data.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers on design, prototyping, testing, or production support.
  • Depot, military, manufacturing, or Government electronics-repair experience
License, Cert or Registration
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the personnel security eligibility required for assigned work, up to a DoD Secret clearance, complete fit for duty requirement, and complete the physical and medical certification when assigned duties involve interaction with or handling of ammunition and explosives.
  • A clean and unencumbered driver’s license may be required for equipment movement or work between supported locations.
Special knowledge, skills, & abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of analog and digital electronics, circuit analysis, power supplies, and electronic-test principles.
  • Skill in component-level troubleshooting, soldering, desoldering, wiring, and connector repair.
  • Ability to operate and maintain automated, manual, and bench-top test equipment.
  • Ability to program or configure automated test equipment within approved controls.
  • Ability to interpret complex schematics, drawings, test procedures, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to analyze failure trends and recommend technically sound corrective actions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and provide technical guidance to other technicians.
  • Strong attention to configuration control, workmanship, documentation, and test accuracy.
  • Ability to independently manage complex technical assignments within approved procedures.
