Job summary

General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking qualified candidates for Digital Range Training System (DRTS) Electronics Technician Maintenance (ETM) I in support of the Warfighter Training Readiness Solution contract. The ETM I ensures maintenance for DRTS non-IT equipment and maintains communications between the PU and DRTS systems during training events.

Position involves PMCS, repairs support, and installation/deinstallation of PU on military vehicles and DRTS assets, with a focus on

Qualifications

  • AA/AS or relevant years of experience.
  • 2+ years of related experience managing US Army DRTS equipment/ranges.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Experience with ranges systems, equipment maintenance, and MIS/GFE property control.

Responsibilities

  • Operate workstations including AAR, range target and instrumentation.
  • Conduct PMCS of non-IT DRTS equipment.
  • Assist Tech III with repairs of non-IT DRTS equipment.
  • Apply standard operating or corrective procedures; escalate issues to Team Lead.
  • Install/Deinstall PU on proper military vehicles and DRTS equipment.
  • Construct and install target frames; repair and replenish damaged targets.
  • Reestablish communication with down range equipment; monitor PU connectivity.
  • Open WOs in MIS and order needed parts.
  • Conduct equipment inventory before and after live-fire events.

Job Description

GDIT is seeking qualified candidates for Digital Range Training System (DRTS) Electronics Technician Maintenance (ETM) I in support of the Warfighter Training Readiness Solution (W-TRS) Contract, formally known as ATMP. DRTS program is the enabler of range modernization for tactical vehicle training. DRTS provides the infrastructure and instrumentation for Abrams, Bradley, Stryker, and Aviation platform live-fire gunnery training and qualifications and the ability to conduct Combined Arms Live Fire Exercises (CALFEX).

GDITs ETM I will report to the Range Team Leads and is responsible for ensuring Army standard of maintenance for all DRTS non-IT equipment, and that communication is maintained between the Player Unit (PU) and the DRTS systems during a training event.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
  • Operate workstations including AAR, range target and instrumentation.
  • Conduct PMCS of non-IT DRTS equipment.
  • Assist Tech III with repairs of non-IT DRTS equipment
  • Apply standard operating or corrective procedures in response to computer output instructions or error conditions; referring issues that require further troubleshooting to the Team Lead
  • Install and Deinstall PU on proper military vehicles and DRTS equipment.
  • Construct and install target frames
  • Repair and replenish damaged targets
  • Reestablish failed communication with down range equipment
  • Conduct ground maintenance around all target pits, buildings, and service areas.
  • Use MIS maintenance control program to open work orders (W/Os) and order needed parts.
  • Install and Deinstall PU on the proper military vehicles and targets.
  • Reestablish failed communication with down range equipment.
  • Monitor and ensure PUs stay in communication with DRTS systems.
  • Report acquisition of supplies, equipment, and parts weekly to Team Lead
  • Conduct an inspection and inventory of all assigned equipment before and after each live fire-training event for accountability and serviceability.
  • Supports the required GDIT/W-TRS cross training plan to support other W-TRS TADSS on instillation.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Education: AA/AS or relevant years of experience
  • Experience: 2+ years of related experience Managing US Army DRTS EQUIPMENT/ranges, Military experience preferred
  • Required Technical skills:
    • Technical expertise in ranges systems, equipment. and range maintenance
    • Knowledge of network protocols, operating systems, and security practices
    • Experienced in US army doctrine live-fire gunnery training and qualifications, combined arms live fire exercises, and After Action Review (AAR) capabilities
    • Ability to learn the W-TRS Management Information System (MIS) for controls/recording all work orders and Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) property control
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Role requirements:
    • Superb communication skills;
    • Attends daily range safety briefings are conducted each morning
    • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
    • Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid CDL Class C state driver’s license and post driving privileges

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $22.97 - $31.07. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
