Job summary

Parsons is seeking an Electronics Technician to join our team. The role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment and systems at Air Traffic Control Towers and related facilities to ensure optimal performance and connectivity.

You will work with engineers and other technicians, set up racks, terminate cables, test installations, and document activities. Travel up to 100% within the USA may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and installation of fiber optics and complex electronics.
• Experience with radio control systems and related equipment installations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site preparation for voice switches at ATCTs, Enroute Centers and TRACONs.
• Install and configure equipment and networking devices, including servers, routers, and switches.
• Set up and secure racks; ensure proper organization and accessibility.
• Terminate LAN cables and wiring with attention to signal integrity.

Job Title: Electronics Technician

Parsons is engaged as the deployment and installation arm of Rohde & Schwarz, the manufacturer of an IP Voice Communication System (VCS). Rohde & Schwarz is replacing 140 VCS at Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCTs) nationwide, with potential to replace 440+ sites. Parsons will install the systems at the designated locations.

Job Overview

Parsons is looking for an Electronics Technician to join our team. The role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment and systems, ensuring optimal performance and connectivity at ATCTs, EnRoute Centers and Terminal TRACONs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site preparation work for voice switches at Air Traffic Control Centers (ATCTs), Enroute Centers and Terminal TRACONs.
• Install and configure electronic equipment and systems, including servers, routers, switches, and other networking devices.
• Set up and secure equipment racks, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
• Terminate LAN cables, terminal blocks and other electronic wiring, ensuring proper connections and signal integrity.
• Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to identify and resolve issues with electronic systems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, align, and calibrate audio equipment and voice communication systems to the component level.
• Follow technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams to ensure accurate installation and repair.
• Conduct tests and inspections to verify the functionality and performance of installed equipment.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other technicians to complete projects on time and within budget.
• Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
• Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards to ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform other responsibilities as appropriate.

Required Skills

• High school diploma.
• 5+ years of experience with testing, repairing, troubleshooting, and installation of fiber optics, radio control systems and other complex electronics equipment.
• Proven experience in installing and maintaining electronic equipment and systems.
• Proficiency in terminating LAN cables and other electronic wiring.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical ability to lift and install equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform tasks that may require standing or bending for extended periods.
• Basic Microsoft Office, Internet, and e‑mail proficiency.
• Must meet customer security requirements; background check by federal authorities will be performed.
• Able to travel up to 100% within the USA.

Desired Skills

• Experience with specific brands or types of electronic equipment commonly used in the industry.
• Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for electronic installations.
• Familiarity with tools and equipment used in electronic installations and repairs.
• Ability to troubleshoot, modify and install various types of electronic equipment such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, radio, and telecommunication), personal and mainframe computers and terminals, industrial, medical, measuring, and controlling equipment, and industrial robotic devices.
