Job summary

GE Aerospace in Bohemia is seeking an Electronics Technician to test and troubleshoot electronic products to the component level using advanced tools and schematics. You will mentor teammates and recommend process improvements to ensure high quality in a collaborative, self-directed team environment.

A degree or electronics certification with hands-on manufacturing experience is required. The role supports LEAN transformation and offers growth within GE Aerospace's Islip/Bohemia facilities.

Qualifications

  • 2-year degree in Electronics or related field, Certified Electronics Program (18 months), or 4-year degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) or related field.
  • PR Certification must be obtained within the probationary period.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of manufacturing experience with a 2-year degree or Certified Electronics Program, or no experience required with a 4-year degree.

Responsibilities

  • Test and troubleshoot to the component level using schematics and established procedures.
  • Collaborate and lead by providing technical guidance to Assemblers and mentoring new technicians.
  • Drive quality by interpreting drawings and specifications, recommending process improvements, and documenting feedback.

Work environment

GE Aerospace facility located in Islip, Long Island is dedicated to the design and manufacture of power conversion & control products, Battery systems, Lighting Controllers, Frequency Converters, Digital Control Products, Control Panels, Inverters, Power supplies and Advanced power conversion applications.

What You’ll Do
  • Test and Troubleshoot: Set up and operate specialized test equipment to evaluate electronic products, troubleshooting to the component and sub-assembly level using schematics and established procedures.
  • Collaborate and Lead: Provide technical guidance to Assemblers and mentor new technicians, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Drive Quality: Interpret drawings and specifications, recommend process improvements, and ensure all quality feedback is documented and communicated effectively.

2nd shift works 4p-12:30a Sunday - Thursday.

This role may encounter high risk or hazardous operations and/or include working shifts beyond a standard workweek.

As such, a requirement of the role is to be at least 18 years of age by the time of joining.

What You Bring
  • Education: A 2-year degree in Electronics or related field, Certified Electronics Program (18 months), or 4-year degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) or related field.
  • PR Certification must be obtained within the probationary period.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of manufacturing experience with a 2-year degree or Certified Electronics Program, or no experience required with a 4-year degree.
  • Skills: Proficiency in troubleshooting to the component level, using tools and gauges, interpreting schematics, and maintaining close specifications. Strong dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and basic computer skills are essential.

The base pay range for this position is $35 - $37/hr. plus a night shift differential of 10%.

The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.

This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/ commission based on the plan.
