Areté is seeking an electronics technician to assemble, test, calibrate, and repair complex electronic and electro-optical systems in Niwot, CO. You will work from schematics and drawings, performing calibration and alignment checks with related equipment.

We are seeking an electronics (or multidisciplinary) technician to perform a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, electromechanical, and/or optical areas. Assembles, tests, calibrates and repairs complicated electronic systems. Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions. Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format. Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.

This position is based in our Niwot, CO office. This is a non-exempt, non-supervisory, full-time position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assemble electro-optical and electronics units from limited design documentation, specifications or procedures. This includes construction and integration of electrical, electro-optical and alignment of electro-optical assemblies and opto-mechanical assemblies
• Set up test apparatus and conduct testing of electrical, optical and electro-optical production assemblies following general methods, procedures, specifications and standards
• Adjust and calibrate systems as needed
• Fill out assembly and test documentation
• Develop, write and edit assembly and test procedures
• Assists in troubleshooting failures to identify root causes of malfunctions. Implements corrective actions
• Occasionally provides support of field experiments, tests and delivered hardware. Work with electro-optic systems in the field to gather data and ensure proper operation
• Position requires some interaction with suppliers and customers
• Additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Typical Education Experience: Associates Degree or 4+ years of related Experience
• Previous experience in a production electronics environment
• Good command of basic electronics and the ability to work with sensitive circuitry
• Use of basic electronics equipment such as AC/DC power supplies, DMM, oscilloscopes
• Tool and asset management, organization, lab maintenance, and tool and consumable expiration date management
• Use of hand tools/torque tools
• Effective professional written and verbal communications skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Take direction, input and feedback from internal customers such as lab managers and program managers and implement solutions
• Ability to travel to customer sites and field test locations to test and repair systems

Desired Experience

• Experience with lasers and laser-based sensing systems
• Familiar with electronic and optical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, meters, optical sensors, lasers, laser power meters, and detectors
• Experience soldering, repairing, and fabricating electronic circuit cards and cables.
• IPC-J-STD-001 solder certification preferred
• Ability to produce professional documentation and thoroughly document setups and testing results
• Active security clearance preferred

The salary range for this role is $55,000 to $90,000; however, Arete considers several factors when extending an offer of employment, including but not limited to: the position and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.

Other Requirements

U.S. citizenship is required to meet position eligibility.
