Job summary

Skyloom, an IonQ company, seeks a skilled electronics technician for high‑reliability assembly and inspection of flight hardware. You will ensure IPC‑610 compliant workmanship, perform rework, and support root cause investigations in a fast paced aerospace environment.

Responsibilities include visual inspection of PCBAs, harness assembly, coating, and maintaining traceability, collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Test teams while upholding strict ESD, FOD, and contamination

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SMT and through-hole assembly and rework.
  • Experience inspecting Class 3 electronic assemblies.
  • Strong reading of schematics and manufacturing travelers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform incoming visual inspection of PCBAs using IPC-A-610 criteria.
  • Assemble, inspect, and verify electronic flight hardware and cable/harness assemblies.
  • Perform staking, conformal coating, and final workmanship verification.
  • Execute SMT and through-hole rework and repair per IPC-7711/7721.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Maintain complete product traceability and manufacturing records.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Test.
  • Champion ESD, FOD, and contamination-control practices.

The Role

This role is responsible for the assembly, inspection, certification, rework, and acceptance of electronic flight hardware. The technician is a key quality gate for all incoming PCBAs and supports production through IPC-compliant workmanship, staking, conformal coating, harness fabrication, and repair activities.

Responsibilities
  • Perform incoming visual inspection of all PCBAs using IPC-A-610 acceptance criteria.
  • Assemble, inspect, and verify electronic flight hardware and cable/harness assemblies.
  • Perform staking, conformal coating, and final workmanship verification.
  • Execute SMT and through-hole rework and repair in accordance with IPC-7711/7721.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective actions for workmanship issues.
  • Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, ECNs, and manufacturing travelers.
  • Maintain complete product traceability and manufacturing records.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Test.
  • Champion ESD, FOD, and contamination-control practices.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years in aerospace, defense, medical, or other high-reliability electronics manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in SMT and through-hole assembly and rework.
  • Experience inspecting Class 3 electronic assemblies.
  • Experience with microscopes, soldering/rework stations, multimeters, and precision tools.
  • Strong understanding of AS9100 quality principles and configuration control.

  • IPC-7711/7721 Rework, Modification, and Repair of Electronic Assemblies
  • IPC-A-610 Certified Standards Expert (CSE)
  • J-STD-001 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS)
  • J-STD-001 Space Addendum Certified IPC Specialist (CIS)
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certified IPC Specialist (CIS)
Compensation

The approximate base salary range for this position is $68,456 - $90,533. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, equity, and a range of benefit options found on our career site.

Benefits will be provided by Skyloom, Inc., an IonQ Company, and will differ from the benefits listed on the IonQ website.

Compensation will vary based on individual factors such as education, qualifications, and experience of the final candidate(s), specific office location, and calibration against relevant market data and internal team equity. Posted base salary figures are subject to change as new market data becomes available. Our benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, matching 401(k), unlimited PTO and paid holidays, parental/adoption leave, legal insurance, and a home technology stipend.
