Job description

Job Title: Senior Instructor

The Leidos NISC IV team is seeking a dynamic Senior Instructor to join the National Airspace System Integration Support Contract (NISC IV) team.

The position will support the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Eastern Service Area (ESA) NISC support team, aiming to provide outstanding customer service to FAA customers receiving NISC services. This is an exciting opportunity to leverage your experience in supporting the NISC IV mission. The contract involves providing technical instruction for new hire Electronics personnel with the skills required for fiber optics projects assigned to Engineering Services.

This is a remote consulting position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the US, with travel to Lakeland, FL, or other locations as needed to teach classes.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Deliver classroom instruction to students via lecture, demonstration, laboratory exercises, handouts, and assessments.
  • Conduct in-person courses, including day and evening classes.
  • Assist students in developing fundamental skills for entry-level fiber optic cable installation or technician roles.
  • Teach principles of fiber optic technology, including fiber types, splicing techniques, network design, safety protocols, and use of specialized tools.
  • Instruct on electronic and fiber optic safety, PPE, cable handling, chemicals, cleaners, adhesives, industry standards, and injury prevention.
  • Provide both classroom and laboratory training to students.
Requirements:
  • Must have a Bachelor's degree and at least 12 months of working knowledge of FAA electrical and electronics systems.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, engineering scheduling tools, and internet communication.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and stakeholder coordination.
  • Basic knowledge of multiple disciplines related to FAA electrical and electronics systems.
