Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering leadership to a cross-functional team spanning multiple skill areas.
  • Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy R&D and ongoing/new business requirements.
  • Develops new and follow-on concepts to expand product or service lines.
  • Anticipates change and coordinates processes and resources to respond proactively.
  • Identifies performance metrics and ensures WBS/PBS, schedule and resources are aligned.
  • Defines roles and responsibilities via responsibility, authority, accountability (RAA).
  • Maintains and distributes team organization charts as needed.
  • Leads project execution to complete the work statement and tracks performance metrics.
  • Plans, identifies and coordinates resources across the life of the project/program.
  • Incorporates lessons learned into strategic process improvements.
  • Prepares and presents outcomes and corrective actions to Boeing management.
  • Works independently.

Role summary

Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) is seeking a Lead or Senior Electronics Project Engineer (Level 5 or 6) in El Segundo, California. This role involves providing engineering leadership to cross-functional teams, developing statements of work, and managing project execution. The engineer will identify performance metrics, plan resources, and drive strategic process improvements. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM field and significant experience in engineering leadership, design, integration, and testing. A U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance is mandatory.

Position Responsibilities
  • Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers
  • Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements
  • Develops new and follow on concepts that will expand product or services lines
  • Anticipates change and organizes processes and resources to proactively respond
  • Identifies performance metrics and ensures that work and project breakdown structure (WBS/PBS), schedule and resource loading is completed by the team
  • Develops and communicates responsibility authority accountability (RAA) to define team members' roles and responsibilities
  • Develops, maintains and distributes team organization chart as needed
  • Leads project execution to complete the work statement. Identifies performance metrics
  • Plans, identifies and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program
  • Incorporates lessons learned into strategic process improvements
  • Prepares and presents outcomes, assessments and corrective action initiatives to Boeing management
  • Works independently
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Lead (Level 5): 14+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 14+ years of experience leading engineering teams
  • 5+ years of experience leading large design, integration, and test teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Senior (Level 6): 20+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of experience leading large design, integration, and test teams

Lead (Level 5) Summary pay range: $176,800 - $239,200

Senior (Level 6) Summary pay range: $210,800 - $285,200
