Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking an Electronics Technician for the Gemini facility in Webster, TX. You will assemble, test, and integrate avionics hardware from development through flight, interfacing with engineering and government partners onsite.

Role requires 5+ years in electronics, board-, system-, and spacecraft-level experience, and certifications in space/military electrical workmanship standards. Strong problem solving and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience; aircraft experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on electronics technician experience.
  • Background in board-, system-, and spacecraft-level electronics hardware.
  • Proven ability to fabricate, assemble, and test avionics and electrical assemblies.
  • Certifications in NASA/IPC standards related to space and military applications.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, test, and integrate prototype, qualification, and space-rated avionics hardware.
  • Fabricate avionics wire harnesses, terminations, connectors, and harness components per drawings.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and diagrams of avionics systems and wiring layouts.
  • Assemble prototype and test boxes with minimal drawings.
  • Familiar with standard lab test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, DAQ boxes).
  • Interact with engineering disciplines and management in a professional team environment.
  • Communicate project progress, status, and issues to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Implement and maintain agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY

Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic Electronics Technician who will primarily be responsible for the assembly and test of electrical hardware form the developmental stages through flight. This position interfaces with employees and government agencies. This role is onsite and will be based at our Gemini facility located in Webster, TX.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The electronics technician will assemble, test, and integrate prototype, qualification, and space-rated avionics hardware
  • Fabricate avionics wire harnesses, terminations, connectors, pin and socket assemblies, harness shields, ground terminations, and related components per drawings
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and diagrams of avionics systems, assemblies, and wiring layouts
  • Ability to assemble prototype and test boxes with minimalistic drawings
  • Familiarity with standard lab test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, data acquisition boxes, etc.)
  • Must be able to interact with all engineering disciplines and technical management in a professional team-oriented environment
  • Communicating project progress, status, and potential issues to stakeholders and leadership
  • Implementing and maintaining agile project management methodologies throughout the project lifecycle
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education & Experience Associate degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience; commercial or military aircraft experience strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as an electronics technician
  • Proven background in board-level, system-level, and spacecraft-level electronics hardware
  • Demonstrated expertise in fabricating, assembling, and testing avionics and electrical assemblies
  • Must hold one or more of the following certifications: NASA-STD-8739.4: Workmanship Standard for Crimping, Interconnecting Cables, Harnesses & Wiring IPC/WHMA-A-620: Requirements and Acceptance for Cable and Wire Harness Assemblies with Space and Military Applications (Electronic Hardware Addendum) IPC J-STD-001: Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies with Space and Military Applications NASA-STD-8739.2: Surface Mount Soldering NASA-STD-8739.3: Through-Hole Soldering NASA-STD-8739.1: Workmanship Standard for Polymeric Application on Electronic Assemblies

This position may require access to export controlled technical data or technology subject to NASA regulations, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). In accordance with U.S. export control laws, final candidates may be required to undergo additional export control screening to determine eligibility for access. Meeting these requirements is a condition of employment Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
