Job summary

The Electronics Maintenance Officer (EMO) position in Coronado, CA supports fielding and maintenance of tactical communications systems. You will track equipment status, perform non-depot software upgrades, coordinate with vendors, and assist with BOI data collection and CONOPS inputs.

You will collaborate with the Communications Program Manager to optimize networks, maintain inventory and documentation, and assist with deployments.

Qualifications

• Active DoD SECRET clearance required.
• IAT level I certification required.
• Minimum of three years of experience in maintenance of tactical communication systems including electrical repair, hardware replacement, and software upgrades.
• Experience with RF propagation theory and operations of tactical communications equipment.

Responsibilities

• Track and maintain operational status of all tactical communications equipment.
• Provide non-depot level software upgrades; coordinate warranty repairs with vendors and depot-level repairs.
• Assist with requirements documentation for Basis of Issue (BOI) and gather data from AARs, Lessons Learned, and interviews.
• Coordinate and implement telecommunications equipment (antennas, repeaters, handsets) for training evolutions.
• Recommend alternate fielding plans when equipment is insufficient.
• Maintain inventory records and entry of new equipment into ASPRs; document issues.
• Prepare reports of findings and supply recommendations.
• Forecast requirements and submit strategic inputs to the chain of command.
• Pursue methods to improve inventory tracking and accountability.
• Assist load planning for transportation of systems; contribute to CONOPS development.
• Provide inputs for SOPs on use of waveform networks for interoperability.
• Operate forklift as needed to load/unload equipment.

Position title: Electronics Maintenance Officer (EMO)

Location: Coronado, CA

Clearance level required: Secret

Responsibilities Include (but Are Not Limited To)

• Tracks and maintains the operational status of all tactical communications equipment under their purview.
• Provides non-depot level software upgrades of tactical communications equipment. Coordinates warranty repairs with vendors and depot level repairs.
• Assists with requirements documentation in support of Basis of Issue (BOI). Gathers data points from After Action Reports (AAR), Lessons Learned, and interviews with communications and operational personnel to support changes to BOI.
• Assists with coordinating and implementing telecommunications equipment (antennas, repeaters, handsets, etc.) to support specialized training evolutions.
• Recommends to the Communications Program Manager alternate fielding plans when insufficient telecommunications equipment is readily available
• Maintains oversight of inventory records and enters new equipment into appropriate ASPRs. Maintains documentation on issues of equipment and ancillaries.
• Prepares reports of finds and makes recommendations on solutions.
• Forecasts requirements and submits strategic requirements to the chain of command based upon the war plan.
• Pursues methods and new technology that can be used to maintain inventories and tracking of accountable equipment.
• Assists with developing load plans for transportation of systems.
• Reviews and provides input to technical documents to ensure specific requirements are documented prior to acquisition.
• Works in conjunction with the Communication Program Manager and Communications Planner to coordinate the movement of equipment to support deployments.
• Works with deployed forces to develop strategic network architectures. Makes recommendations on alternate communication paths, frequency spectrum, antennas or equipment that enhances the communications architecture and improves interoperability.
• Provides inputs to the development of Concept of Operations (CONOPS) on strategies, tactics, policies, maintenance and constraints related to fielding and usage of equipment.
• Assists with validating and prioritizing material requisitions. Helps to determine shortfalls based on available inventory and initiates actions to obtain cost estimates to alleviate those shortfalls.
• Assists with acquiring dedicated services, equipment, and/or facilities to support telecommunications requirements used in a global environment.
• Provides inputs to the development of CONOPS on use of telecommunications equipment in a joint and coalition environment. Provide inputs for Standard Operating Procedures SOPs on use of particular waveforms and networks to ensure compatibility when using different types of communications equipment.
• Contractor shall operate a forklift as needed to load/un-load equipment to/from vehicles and store equipment on shelving provided.

Qualifications

• Must meet requirements for IAT level I category.
• Possess and maintain an active DoD SECRET security clearance.
• Possess a minimum of three years of experience in the maintenance of tactical communication systems to include electrical repair, hardware replacement, and software upgrades.
• Possess a minimum of three years of experience in Radio Frequency (RF) propagation theory and operations of tactical communications equipment.
