Job summary

Silvus Technologies in West Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer to contribute to MANET radios and other R&D projects focused on Electronics Hardware/PCBA design. The role is hybrid with a minimum of 3 onsite days weekly (Mon, Wed, Thu) at our LA headquarters.

You will work with cross‑functional teams to ensure EMI‑free, robust hardware designs, perform bring‑up, testing, and collaboration across PCB, FPGA, RF, and software teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in multi‑layer PCB design.
• Experience implementing digital communication peripherals at a hardware level (USB 2.0, Ethernet, I2C, RS232).
• Experience designing power supply circuitry.
• Familiarity with test equipment (DMM, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer) and lab practices.

Responsibilities

• Component selection, schematic capture and PCB design of multi‑layer PCBs (4‑12 layers).
• Wiring diagram creation for radio wiring harnesses.
• Validate that new PCB and harness designs meet design requirements.
• Follow best practices for mixed signal PCB and harness design.
• Define PCB stack up, materials, and design rules for performance and manufacturability.
• Hardware bring‑up, test, and root cause analysis on the bench.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Silvus is seeking an Electronics Design Engineer who will report to the Team Lead, Electronics Design on the Hardware Engineering team. The successful individual in this role will participate in the development of Silvus’ MANET radios and other advanced R&D projects with an emphasis on Electronics Hardware/PCBA design. This position is based at Silvus Technologies’ headquarters in the heart of vibrant West Los Angeles, CA, and is on a hybrid schedule; a minimum of 3 days onsite per week is expected. On‑site days are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Component selection, schematic capture and PCB design of multi‑layer PCBs (4‑12 layers).
• Wiring diagram creation for radio wiring harnesses.
• Validate that new PCB and harness designs meet design requirements.
• Follow best practices to achieve successful mixed signal PCB and harness design.
• Define PCB stack up, materials, and design rules to meet performance requirements and manufacturing feasibility.
• Perform hardware bring‑up, test, and root cause analysis on the bench, using common lab equipment.
• Work with PCB Designers, Software, FPGA, and RF teams for system‑level implementation.
• Ensure designs do not produce EMI and are well isolated in high EMI environments.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or closely related field.
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in multi‑layer PCB design.
• Experience implementing digital communication peripherals at a hardware level, such as USB 2.0, Ethernet, I2C, and RS232.
• Experience designing power supply circuitry.
• Strong familiarity with test equipment such as DMM, bench‑top supply, oscilloscope, logic analyzer, spectrum analyzer.
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, or U.S. Permanent Resident) due to clients under U.S. federal contracts.
• All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Experience with Altium Designer.
• Competency with simulation tools for high‑speed digital design and power supply design.
• Proven experience with Xilinx FPGAs, SoCs and the Vivado IDE.
• Experience with audio or video codecs.
• Knowledge of compliance standards such as FCC, CE Mark and MIL‑STD‑461.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, and/or C.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team environment.
• Problem‑solving, data analysis, deductive reasoning, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Office environment.
• Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests or demonstrations in the field.
• Lift equipment up to 20 lbs. for the set‑up of demonstrations and testing.
• Perform bending and reaching movements to place items on lower and higher shelves.
• Kneeling or squatting to access lower shelves.
• Walking/Moving in the labs.

COMPENSATION

The pay range is NOT a guarantee. It is based on market research and peer data, and will vary depending on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

CA Pay Range $100,000 — $130,000 USD
