GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking an Electronics Assembly Specialist to join our onsite team. You will assemble high-performance prototypes and racing power electronics, following drawings and procedures with strict quality controls.

Ideal candidates have ESD/clean room experience, IPC certifications, and a passion for motorsports. This role requires precise hands-on work, teamwork, and a commitment to safety in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with ESD and Clean Room environments required or preferred.
• IPC A610 and IPC 7711/7721 certifications are preferred.
• Hands-on capabilities for assembling small components.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Assemble high-performance prototypes and racing HV power electronics to exact specs.
• Integrate HV power electronics into the hybrid battery pack.
• Follow drawings, build specs and procedures; perform in-process and final quality checks.
• Document quality or assembly issues to improve performance and reliability.
• Record and track build data during assembly.
• Maintain clean, organized workspace; adhere to ESD and Clean Room standards.
• Adapt to changing priorities while maintaining safety and quality.
• Perform End of Line tests: sensor calibration, software loading, power tests.
• Rework or repair PCA or PCB as needed.

Electronics Assembly Specialist - Onsite

Job Summary

GM Performance Power Units is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Electronics Assembly Specialist to join our team in Concord, NC. This role involves assembling high-performance prototypes and racing Power Electronics with precision and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Electronics Assembly and Repairs, ESD and Clean Room experience, IPC certification, a passion for motorsports, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble high-performance prototypes and racing High Voltage Power Electronics to exact specifications.
• Integrate the HV Power Electronics into the hybrid battery pack.
• Accurately follow technical drawings, build specifications and assembly procedures, as well as conduct rigorous in-process and final quality checks.
• Identify and document quality or assembly-related issues to help improve the Power Electronics performance and reliability.
• Electronically record and track build data collected during the assembly process.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace while adhering to ESD and Clean Room environmental and safety standards.
• Adapt to changing work environments and competing demands while maintaining a high standard of quality and safety.
• Perform End of Line tests: sensor calibration, software loading, power load…
• Rework or repair PCA or PCB.

Required Qualifications

• ESD and Clean Room previous experience.
• IPC A610 and 7711/7721 certifications are preferred.
• Hands-on capabilities for assembling small parts.
• High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
• Proficiency with Assembly IT Systems.
• Experience in motorsport, advanced automotive, aerospace, or high-performance engineering environments is highly desirable.
• Methodical, disciplined, and quality-focused approach to assembly work.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
• Willingness to take ownership and accountability for build quality.
• Adaptable and responsive to changing priorities and tight deadlines.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely lift and move materials and components typically up to 25 lbs, with heavier items handled with assistance or appropriate equipment as needed.
• Comfortable working on your feet and performing light physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and reaching throughout a standard shift while wearing required PPE.
• Willingness to work in a manufacturing and test environment, including moderate noise levels and variable temperatures.
