Job summary

VIAVI Solutions in Rapid City, SD is seeking a hands-on Electronics Assembler for the Manual Assembly / Soldering & Housing (MASH) role. You will assemble miniature PCBs, operate auto assembly machines, and run computerized tests to ensure quality.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of electronics assembly experience, can solder under a microscope, read assembly instructions, and perform detailed inspection with precision. This on-site role offers steady daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years electronics assembly experience with hand soldering of miniature components.

• Familiarity with IPC standards is helpful but not required.

Position Summary

The Manual Assembly / Soldering & Housing (MASH) - Electronics Assembler will be a technical resource responsible for assembling miniature printed circuit assemblies, setting up auto assembly machines and operating computerized test systems. Additionally, the electronics assembler will perform visual quality assurance of assemblies completed in the auto assembly process.

• Location – Rapid City, SD
• Full-Time Position
• Hours – Monday-Friday (7:00am – 3:30pm); voluntary OT is sometimes available

Job Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a minimum of 2 years’ electronics assembly experience hand soldering miniature electronics components. Further qualifications include:

• Ability to solder high density miniature circuits under a microscope @ 10x magnification.
• Must read and understand assembly instructions
• Ability to perform miniature detailed assembly work
• Inspect electronics assemblies
• Practical understanding of electronic components
• Troubleshoot products in manufacturing
• Ability to work with a microscope and various assembly tools
• Desire to work
• Be punctual and reliable.
• Working knowledge of IPC-Standards expected but not required.
  • IPC-A-610 Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies
  • J-STD-001 Soldering Standard.
  • IPC-A-WHMA-620 Wire Harness Assembly

Manual Dexterity Evaluation:

• As part of the hiring process, you will be required to perform a Manual Dexterity Evaluation to assess the ability to perform the previously stated Job Qualifications.
• These basic tasks and abilities are:

Be able to manually solder under the microscope (10X magnification), Qty=2 units (a SMT IMU cube assembly and thru-hole assembly component.

• Assist in inventory audits
