The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates 13 correctionalfacilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of the DOC is to protect the citizens of thecommonwealth and to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out themandates of the legislative and judicial processes. The DOC also provides opportunities for offenders to acquireskills which facilitate non-criminal behavior.

Green River Correctional Complex is seeking skilled applicants for the Electrician Technician Supervisor position on siteat the institution. This position will supervise the work of facility electronics tech staff and othermaintenance department staff.

Responsibilities

• Supervises technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic component systems,electronic recording, monitoring or measuring devices and other electronic equipment and devices.
• Performs the duties of a technician particularly in the more difficult and technical areas.
• Supervises the evaluation of electronic equipment performance and final inspection and adjustment ofinstallation and special systems.
• Maintains technical records and reports of maintenance and repairs.
• Interprets blueprints and technical drawings for technicians.
• Inspects work of staff.

This position requires a high degree of adaptability and initiative, a candidate should be responsive to rapidly changingwork environment requiring complex decision-making skills in a dynamic work environment. Superiorcommunication skills are ideal with colleagues, employees, and supervisors.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Five years of technical experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Technical training in electronics or a related field will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional technical experience will substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office and/or electronic shop.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
