Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking an Electronic Technician to perform journey level technical work involving installation, operation, repair and maintenance of electronic equipment used for communications, traffic signal control, flood control, and water pumping stations to ensure efficient operation.

The role requires two years of related experience or an associate degree, knowledge of FCC regulations, and ability to read wiring diagrams and operate testing instruments.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of FCC rules and regulations governing operations and equipment checks.
• Knowledge of traffic signal controllers and related equipment.
• Knowledge of sound and lighting equipment operations.
• Understanding of electronic theory and practice for installation, testing, diagnosis, and repair of complex circuitry.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates performance and reliability of electronic equipment and performs installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair and modification.
• Repairs and replaces defective electronic equipment to eliminate malfunctions.
• Tests components and circuits, diagnoses malfunctions, and performs maintenance on pumps, motors and related equipment.
• Prepares operating documentation, schedules daily workloads, and maintains shop logs and timesheets.
• Drives and operates vehicles to facilitate repairs and inspection services.
