Job summary

Knowles Corporation in the United States is seeking an Electronic Technician to support the supercapacitor module team. You will modify PCB layouts, read advanced schematics, and perform precise soldering and debugging on complex boards.

You will use Altium for designs, run rigorous qualification tests, set up test fixtures and data acquisition, and document results to ensure safety and performance. This role requires an Associate degree in Electronics Technology and 2+ years of hands-on PCB

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electronics Technology or a closely related field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on PCB experience with schematics reading, debugging and layout.
  • Proficient with precision soldering equipment (hot air rework, fine-tip irons) and lab test gear.
  • Strong technical writing and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals.
  • Design and modify PCB layouts and schematics using Altium.
  • Perform high-precision SMT/die or through-hole soldering and rework on PCBs.
  • Debug boards to component level, identifying shorts, open traces, or faulty parts.
  • Conduct functional, environmental, thermal, and stress testing on prototypes and production units.
  • Set up test fixtures, automated test equipment (ATE), and data acquisition systems.
  • Write detailed test reports with environments, procedures, raw data, and results.

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Electronic Technician to join our supercapacitor module team. In this role, you will focus on modifying PCB layouts, reading advanced electrical schematics, and performing precise soldering and debugging on complex circuit boards. The ideal candidate combines hands‑on technical expertise with CAD capabilities and a disciplined approach to interpreting specifications, conducting qualification tests, and documenting technical results.


Job Responsibilities


  • Read, interpret, and accurately analyze complex electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

  • Design and modify PCB layouts and schematics using Altium.

  • Perform high‑precision soldering and desoldering on PCBs, executing surface‑mount technology (SMT), fine‑pitch components, and through‑hole reworks.

  • Debug printed circuit boards down to the component level, identifying short circuits, open traces, cold solder joints, or faulty components.

  • Perform rigorous design and qualification testing (e.g. functional, environmental, thermal, and stress testing) on prototypes and production units.

  • Set up specialized test fixtures, automated test equipment (ATE), and data acquisition systems to validate product safety, performance, and compliance.

  • Write comprehensive, detailed test reports documenting test environments, procedures, raw data, and finalized results.


Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise


  • Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a highly related technical field.

  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience, with proven experience in reading schematics, board debugging, and PCB layout.

  • Expert familiarity with precision soldering equipment (hot air rework stations, fine‑tip irons) and electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers).

  • Exceptional board‑level troubleshooting logic, strong technical writing capability, excellent manual dexterity, and a keen eye for detail.

One element in our total compensation package is base pay. The starting base pay for this role is $65,000 to $85,000 per year.


Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining us, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company. It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range. We recognize that the person(s) we select for hire may be less experienced or more experienced than the role as posted; if this is the case, any updates to available salary ranges will be communicated with candidates during the recruitment process.
