The Electronic Technician performs advanced troubleshooting, repair, modification, and testing of electronic and electro-mechanical products at the board, sub-assembly, and system level. This role serves as a senior technical resource within the repair operation, handling complex failures, ambiguous issues, and repeat defects. The Electronic Technician works closely with engineering, quality, and repair logistics teams to improve repair effectiveness, reduce recurrence, and support product reliability.
Key Responsibilities / Description of Tasks
- Advanced Diagnostics & Repair
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting of electronic circuits, PCBAs, and electronic sub-assemblies
- Diagnose complex, intermittent, or repeat failures using schematics, datasheets, and test data
- Perform component-level repair, rework, and modification (through-hole and SMT)
- Support failure analysis to identify root causes and corrective actions
- Recommend repair methods, test approaches, and tooling improvements
- Develop or refine test methods, fixtures, and diagnostic procedures
- Execute advanced functional, electrical, and stress testing
- Validate repairs against engineering specifications and performance requirements
- Support engineering change orders, product updates, and design-for-repair initiatives
- Provide technical feedback to engineering on design or manufacturability concerns
Documentation & Systems
- Author or update repair procedures, troubleshooting guides, and test documentation
- Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of failure modes, repairs, and test results
- Contribute to technical reports, trend analysis, and corrective action documentation
Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
- Adhere to ESD, handling, and safety requirements at all times
- Ensure compliance with IPC, ISO, ESD, and internal quality standards
- Support audits, inspections, and customer technical reviews
- Lead or support continuous improvement efforts to reduce repair time and repeat failures
- Mentor Repair Technicians on advanced troubleshooting and repair techniques
Collaboration & Technical Leadership
- Serve as escalation point for complex technical repair issues
- Partner with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams on cross-functional initiatives
- Support training and onboarding for technical staff
- Assist with evaluation and implementation of new tools, equipment, and technologies
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 5–8 years of experience in electronics repair, testing, or manufacturing support
- Strong understanding of analog and digital electronics and circuit behavior
- Proven experience with component-level PCB repair and rework
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical documentation
- Proficiency with electronic test equipment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40–50 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Electronics or related field
- Experience with automated test systems or custom test fixtures
- Experience supporting engineering changes and new product introductions
- Familiarity with problem-solving methods

Compensation
- The hourly pay range for this position is $23.00 – $25.00 depending on experience.
