Job summary

PacifiCorp is seeking an Electronic Technician to support the reliable operation of the electrical grid through advanced communications technology. The role involves maintaining and certifying a wide range of communication systems, with occasional field travel in challenging weather.

You may work independently or supervise an Electronic Technician Assistant. Applicants should have two years of relevant experience, a High School Diploma or GED, and an FCC GROL license (elements 1 and 3).

Qualifications

• Must provide proof of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Must pass journeyman level written and practical tests.
• Two years experience as an Electronic Technician in a power utility environment.
• FCC GROL license with elements 1 and 3.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining PacifiCorp Communication systems including voice and data systems, telephone systems, PBX's, DCS, analog and digital microwave radio systems, land mobile radio systems, SCADA systems, power line carrier equipment, chart recorders, telemetry, tone relaying, fiber optics/lightwave, and related switching and termination equipment.
• Install, test and certify any of the above equipment. Off-road travel in extreme weather conditions may be required.
• Usually work on independent assignments, but may collaborate with other personnel as needed.
• May be assigned to direct the work of an Electronic Technician Assistant.
• Responsible for vehicles, tools and materials supplied by the Company for use in this position.
