Job summary

SIG SAUER, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Electronic Controls Technician (E-Tech) to troubleshoot and maintain automation equipment in high-volume manufacturing.

You will work on loading modules, presses, wash systems, labeling systems, conveyors, sensors, and control cabinets on site in Arkansas. The role requires 2–5 years of related technical experience with PLC/HMI control systems and electrical schematics, and the ability to read engineering drawings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 2–5 years of related technical experience.
  • Experience with PLCs, HMIs, motor starters, VFDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Ability to read schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient in MS Office; good communication and documentation skills.
  • Able to work in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, motors, frequency drives, and sensors.
  • Support and repair electrical distribution systems with senior staff.
  • Improve processes to reduce costs and improve quality.
  • Establish preventive maintenance for electronic and electrical systems.
  • Maintain safe working environment and comply with ISO procedures.
  • Share updates with department leadership to minimize downtime.

Position Summary:

The Sr. Electronic Controls Technician (E-Tech), Ammo focuses on equipment troubleshooting and maintaining automation equipment for high volume manufacturing such as loading modules, presses, wash systems, annealing systems, material conveyors, cameras, sensors, print and apply labeling systems, scales, HMI systems, and control cabinets.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promote a safe working environment by following all safety procedures.
  • With input from senior Technicians or Engineers, support and trouble-shoot PLCs, HMI’s, motors, servo and frequency drives, robotics, sensors, and electrical
    distribution systems.
  • Partner with Mechanics to resolve equipment electrical problems that create performance deficiencies.
  • Seek out and implement continuous improvement projects related to costs, quality, and efficiency.
  • Assist in identifying and establishing critical spare part inventory related to electronic needs for operations equipment.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining preventive maintenance related to electronic and electrical systems.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with operations and site support resources.
  • Communicate technical issues to department leadership to elevate issues that impact operations, minimizing downtime impact.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Regular on-site attendance and punctuality are a necessary function of this position
  • May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
  • May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2-5 years of related technical experience.
  • Working knowledge of aspects of electronic control systems including but not limited to PLCs, HMIs, motor starts, variable frequency drives, DC drives, electrical
    schematics, wiring conventions, and standard electrical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and engineering drawings.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively in one-on-one, small group situations, or to employees of the organization.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task, and adapt quickly to change.
  • Ability to work with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work safely in a variety of situations, follow rules and established processes.

Working Conditions:

  • Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
  • Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
  • Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
  • The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
  • Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
  • Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
