Job summary
Pentangle Tech Services | P5 Group is seeking an experienced Component Engineer to support oil and gas downhole tool electronics. The role focuses on troubleshooting failures, selecting and qualifying components, and interpreting datasheets to substitute parts when needed.
You will design electrical cables, create EBOMs, perform DFM/DFA, and collaborate with PCB designers, mechanical teams, and vendors to meet client documentation standards and ensure part reliability throughout the product
Qualifications
- Experience in component engineering for oil and gas industries.
- Strong ability to read datasheets and select substitute parts.
- Experience with design and qualification of electronic components.
Responsibilities
- Independently troubleshoot component failures and perform root cause analysis.
- Responsible for component selection, testing and qualification.
- Read datasheets, interpret data and identify best substitutes.
- Design electrical cables including wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Create EBOM and perform DFM/ DFA activities.
- Collaborate with PCB and Mechanical Designers and with vendors.
- Follow client documentation standards for rework and new documents.
- Support obsolescence management and supplier qualification.
- Assist in failure analysis on downhole tool electronics.
