Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Performs NCV/EMG studies, assists physician with EMG, and prepares for physician interpretation.
  • Informs physician of potential abnormalities noticed while performing the study.
  • Verifies patient identity, enters appropriate patient information, and obtains and/or verifies consent for procedure if applicable.
  • Maintains accurate and timely documentation in the patient chart and archives files for NCV/EMG as applicable.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Cleans equipment after each procedure and follows universal precautions for infection control.
  • Maintains appropriate stock of supplies needed to complete NCV/EMG studies.
  • Assists with patient calls, scheduling appointments, and medical assistant duties as needed.

Summary

The Electroneurodiagnostic Tech operates neurology equipment under the supervision of a neurologist and obtains data for use by the physician diagnosing and treating neurological disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Performs NCV/EMG studies, assists physician with EMG, and prepares for physician interpretation.
  • Initiates patient education to promote compliance and cooperation; provides a complete explanation of the procedure(s), test(s), and/or treatments.
  • Informs physician of potential abnormalities noticed while performing the study.
  • Verifies patient identity, enters appropriate patient information, and obtains and/or verifies consent for procedure if applicable.
  • Ensures accurate and timely documentation in the patient chart and archives files for NCV/EMG as applicable.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Cleans equipment after each procedure and follows universal precautions for infection control.
  • Complies with hazardous material handling procedures, maintains instrument/equipment in good working order, and takes precautions to ensure electrical safety.
  • Maintains appropriate stock of supplies needed to complete NCV/EMG studies.
  • Assists with patient phone calls, scheduling appointments, and medical assistant duties as needed.
Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical Assistant certification or registration.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred:

  • Experience performing NCV/EMG studies.
