Job description

Assembly Team | Peoria, IL | Full-Time | First Shift

Pay: $27 – $30 per hour

Reports To: Assembly Team Supervisor

If you want to build the equipment and systems behind life-saving medicine manufacturing around the world, keep reading. You'll find real variety — much of what we make is custom — plus the chance to build a broad skillset, a flexible environment, and a supportive team.

Rheo Engineering builds custom powder handling equipment used to manufacture life-saving medicine, and our Assembly Team turns Engineering's blueprints into finished, working systems. As an Electromechanical Technician I, you're fully trusted with mechanical and hydraulic assembly, growing into pneumatic and electrical work, and occasionally on-site with customers on select projects.

What You’ll Do
  • Assemble custom products and systems by following blueprints provided by the Engineering team
  • Perform mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and hydraulic assembly
  • Perform installation, testing, and repair of industrial mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic equipment used on Rheo projects
  • Read and interpret product and project documentation, including safety rules, operator's manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Fabrication teams to ensure accuracy of the final workpiece
  • Provide design input to Engineering from an assembly/operator perspective
  • Perform and record routine maintenance on machine tools and equipment
  • Review all parts for an assembly and confirm accuracy against the general assembly drawing
  • Provide occasional on-site support for customers during installs, warranty claims, and repairs
  • Occasionally apply surface finishes using pneumatic polishing tools
  • Occasionally clean products post-assembly and/or testing
What We’re Looking For
Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proven work experience assembling or maintaining custom mechanical projects or products from blueprints
  • Proven experience safely working with a variety of hand tools, power tools, and simple machine tools
Software
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (Epicor Kinetic preferred)
  • Superb Communication — you get your ideas, instructions, and points across clearly and naturally
  • Detail-Orientation — high attention to detail and highly organized
  • Extreme Ownership — you see a project through from beginning to end, no matter the obstacle
  • Team Spirit — your presence makes the team better and happier
  • Self-Starter — you don't wait to be told what to do; you get what you need to get things done
Values Alignment
  • Initiative: instinct for taking action to improve, solve, and deliver.
  • Collaboration: proactive communication with your stakeholders.
  • Competence: ability to do your job well.
  • Reliability: persistent follow-through on commitments.
  • Bold Humility: courage to speak, act, and listen without arrogance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or certification as a Mechanic, Industrial Electrical Technician, or related technical field
Why Rheo?
  • Steady work in a stable industry — the equipment you build helps make life-saving medicine, and that work doesn’t dry up
  • All first shift, with flexible start and end times and the option to frontload your hours
  • A small shop with low turnover where you’re a name, not a number
  • Real variety — custom work, not the same part over and over
  • Leading medical insurance — consistently low rates compared to other businesses in the area
  • Health Savings Account with employer contributions (plan-dependent)
  • Dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • Identity theft insurance
  • 401(k) with 4% employer match
  • Generous PTO
  • Paid paternity and maternity leave
  • Paid cell phone plan with stipend for a new phone every 2 years
  • Employee referral program
Working Conditions

This is a shop-floor position. You must be able to bend/stoop, climb stairs and ladders, squat, kneel, push/pull, lift up to 50 lbs, and use vibratory and other basic tools. Standard 8-hour workday, first shift. Overtime as requested by your supervisor. Some travel for on-site customer support, up to approximately 10% of the year.
