CSI – a custom hardware/software engineering company headquartered in Richardson, TX, is seeking a talented Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) Engineer. By joining the CSI Specialty Engineering team you’ll have the opportunity to design, develop and test product capabilities for a wide area of developmental equipment as well as existing solutions that are repackaged to meet the rugged environment in which our equipment is expected to operate. Our engineers develop and support custom systems at the board, middleware and complete system levels. Our hardware designs range from simple microcontroller-based peripherals to complex secure and rugged processing and type accredited networked systems. CSI engineers work as a multidisciplinary team in order to optimize system design and analysis throughout the product lifecycle.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, the CSI E3 engineer will be engaged in all aspects of a program from bidding to delivery. It is also critical that the candidate exhibits strong communication skills and a desire to engage other engineers to both teach and learn. Candidates should be able to present compound problems to a broad audience that may not possess subject matter expertise or be intimately familiar with what E3 encompasses.

A requirement of this job is that you obtain and maintain a security clearance and you must be a U.S. citizen.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • E3 engineers are responsible for designing bonding and grounding approaches, shielding approaches for chasses/racks/cabling, filtering, and interfaces
  • E3 engineers design, prepare, and review test procedures, test reports, analyses, control plans, and interact during multidisciplinary design reviews (internal and external)
  • The E3 engineer is responsible for following and implementing best practices from an E3 perspective for all programs for which they work
  • The E3 engineer is expected to actively engage in training and mentoring of engineers that are less experienced in the arena of E3
Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS or MS in STEM
  • US Citizen capable of being granted a Secret or Top Secret Clearance
  • CEM experience using CST Studio Suite or similar modeling software
  • Experience with MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-461, and DO-160
  • Experience in RF, Test, design
  • Comfortable with fast pace and dynamic product development environments
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering focused on Electromagnetics, RF, or analog circuitry
  • Experience with DoD/Aerospace practices, and programmatic experience with BOE, RFP, ROM, and risk assessment of E3 compliance
  • DOD Top Secret clearance or higher
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive design and analysis experience in E3 including: EMP, shielding of cables/chasses/racks, lightning protection, HERP/HERF/HERO, ESD
  • The ideal candidate will have TEMPEST experience at the LRU and platform level
