Lightmatter, Inc. in Massachusetts seeks an Electro-Optic Systems Architect to partner with the engineering team and deliver groundbreaking products.

You will ensure that Passage’s digital-to-optical links meet customer requirements and collaborate with RTL/DV teams to validate implementations. Join a tight-knit team of scientists and engineers to build a new kind of computer from the ground up, test prototypes, and contribute to customer-facing datasheets and reference designs in a hybrid work

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience with a Masters in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• Expertise in high-speed AMS digital design for photonic channels.
• Experience with digital circuit design and analog/digital integration (DSP/CRC/FEC).
• Strong problem solving and customer communication abilities.
• Ability to collaborate across hardware and software teams.

Responsibilities

• Be the digital architecture owner of Lightmatter’s Passage product, collaborating with architecture, chip-design, and software teams.
• Oversee digital architecture from concept through high-volume production with PMs guidance.
• Architect and specify system-level digital designs integrating AMS and photonic circuits.
• Work with test/validation engineers to correlate hardware with simulation.
• Collaborate with RTL and DV teams to enable block-level implementation and verification.
• Support firmware in developing bring-up and validation recipes.
• Produce and review architectural specs and customer-facing datasheets.
• Identify improvements and mitigation strategies for proposed architectures.

We are hiring an Electro-Optic Systems Architect. The selected candidate will partner with the internal engineering team to deliver groundbreaking products to the market. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that Passage’s electrical-optical-electrical links are performant and meet customer requirements. You will engage with our cross-disciplinary engineering teams to model and analyze solutions. You may also test and measure prototypes to validate the models.

Responsibilities

• Be the digital architecture owner of Lightmatter’s Passage product. Work closely with the rest of the architecture team, chip-design team, and the software team.
• Responsible for the digital architecture from initial concept through high-volume production. Work closely with the technical program manager(s) to plan, organize, and execute.
• Architect and specify system level digital designs integrating complex AMS and photonic circuits. These circuits include stabilization circuits of AMS & photonic devices; line-rate DSP, FEC, CRC; and tuning & adaptation of analog front-end components.
• Work closely with test and validation engineers to validate hardware against simulation prediction.
• Actively collaborate with the RTL and DV teams to enable block-level implementation and verification, respectively.
• Actively enable the firmware team to develop the recipe for hardware bringup and validation.
• Author, review, and validate architectural specifications. With the product and applications engineering teams, they also produce customer-facing product datasheets and reference designs.
• Identify possible improvements as well as possible pitfalls (including mitigation strategies) around executing the proposed architectures.

Qualifications

• 12+ years and a Masters’ degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
• In-depth knowledge of power-efficient digital design flow for high-speed AMS electronics, preferably on photonic communication channels.
• In-depth knowledge of digital circuit design in a high-speed analog/photonic link, including device bring-up, control, and digital signal processing.
• Demonstrated strong problem solving skills specifically pertaining to problems that do not have obvious solutions.
• Demonstrated strong customer communication, with timely responses and consistently positive feedback

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of SerDes PCS layer and equalization along with forward error-correction schemes.
• Ability and desire to collaborate in a cross-disciplinary team: from hardware to software.

We offer competitive compensation. The base salary range for this role determined based on location, experience, educational background, and market data.

Salary Range: total compensation goes beyond base salary, it also includes a new hire equity grant, annual performance-based equity, and other rewards that recognize your impact and contribution.
